FORT DEL PILAR, Baguio City - Katapangan, integridad at katapatan ang magiging gabay ni Senador Ping Lacson sa pagharap sa mga suliranin ng bansa sakaling palarin na mahalal sa pagka-Pangulo sa 2022.

Para kay Lacson, ito ang mga katangian ng isang lider na napulot nya bilang miyembro ng PMA Matatag Class of 1971 na magiging mahalaga sa pakikibaka laban sa mga samu't saring isyu ng bansa.

"These virtues are much-warranted in today’s unprecedented challenges: the long-term impact of the pandemic, the ballooning national debt, the biggest dip of our economy, the maritime disputes in the West Philippine Sea, as well as the undeniable climate crisis," ani Lacson sa kanyang talumpati sa ika-50 anibersayo ng PMA Class 1971.

Sa PMA din nahasa ni Lacson ang kanyang brand of leadership by example at ang kanyang prinsipyo sa buhay na "What is right must be kept right, what is wrong must be set right."

Ibinahagi rin ng presidential aspirant na malaki ang naging papel ng mga miyembro ng Matatag Class of 1971 sa iba't ibang parte ng ating kasaysayan.

"Living up to our class moniker, our class fought and bled in many battles - we stood at the forefront of armed rebellions and peaceful revolutions that set the course of our nation’s history. Even in our second careers as elected or appointed public officials, as well as in private enterprises, within us is our ironclad commitment to the virtues taught to us by our beloved Alma Mater," ani Lacson.

Sa kasalukuyan, nakikita ni Lacson na may malaking papel pa ang gagampanan ng mga miyembro ng PMA sa mangyayaring "digital renaissance” sa bansa sa susunod na tatlong taon.

Kasama aniya sa mga halimbawa niyo ang kauna unahang National Cyber Defense Academy at ang pinakamalaking intelligent network sa pamamagitan ng Project Lightning sa Baguio City.

"This breakthrough technology is our way to revolutionize our connectivity landscape which already addresses the speed, cost, and efficiency requirements to literally connect everything," sambit ni Lacson kasabay ng kanyang papuri sa Smart City Command Center sa Baguio na kanyang binisita nitong Biyernes.

Aniya, parte ito ng magandang plano ni Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong na magkaroon ng digital governance para mabuksan ang marami pang oportunidad sa siyudad.

"Imagine if this can be replicated all over the country. Initially 146 cities, wow, you can just imagine. It’s all digital. This is a dream come true. Sana sooner than later ma-implement ni Mayor Benjie," sabi ni Lacson matapos niyang bisitahin ang command center nitong Biyernes.

Sinabi rin ng presidential aspirant na kailangan nilang paghandaan ng kanyang "mistahs" sa papausbong na digital economy "that is bound to change not only our defense system, but literally every single aspect of our nation's well-being."

"Indeed, what we are bound to do, as leaders in various sectors of our country, is to stay the course and keep in pace with pivotal transformations in our society – akin to that of the meaningful governance reforms of Baguio City Mayor and fellow cavalier, Benjie Magalong," sabi ni Lacson.

"Only if we institute the much-needed reforms of our society in line with the demands of our time can we live up to the legacy of being 'Matatag': strong, unbowed and unyielding," dagdag pa nito.

Kasalukuyang tumatakbo si Lacson sa pagka-Pangulo sa ilalim ng Partido Reporma.
